Malkangiri: Three brothers from Odisha were allegedly hacked to death by their brother-in-law over family dispute at a village in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
The deceased persons were identified as Raju Khemudu, Krishna Khemudu, and Kunju Khemudu. Two of them were residents of Kupaguda village under Chitrakonda police limits in Malkangiri district, while another lived in Nabarangpur.
As per preliminary information, the three had been to the house of their brother-in-law Ghenu Hantal’s at Sileru village in Andhra Pradesh to attend the last rites of a relative when the brutal incident took place.
The accused reportedly invited the three – his wife’s brothers – for dinner after they attended the funeral during day on Sunday. After a heated argument over a past dispute, he allegedly attacked the three with an axe.
While two brothers died on the spot, another suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to a hospital in Visakhapatnam, where he succumbed to injuries.
After getting information about the ghastly murder, the police have reportedly initiated an investigation. Further details are awaited.
