Bhadrak: In a tragic incident, a youth drowned in a holy pond at Aradi Pitha in Odisha’s Bhadrak district before going for darshan of Baba Akhandalamani on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Debabrata Mishra of Dobal Sohada Sasan under the jurisdiction of Dhamnagar police station. He was reportedly staying in Bhadrak and pursuing a BCA course.
As per sources, Debabrata and his three friends had gone to the Aradi shrine on two motorcycles from Bhadrak. Before offering prayers at the temple, they went for a bath in the sacred Shiva Ganga pond located within the temple premises.
However, Debabrata and another friend accidentally slipped into deep water and started drowning. Locals and their friends rushed to rescue them and immediately shifted both to Aradi Hospital, where doctors declared Debabrata dead on arrival. The other youth is undergoing treatment.
Following the mishap, the Aradi outpost police have launched an investigation into the incident.
