WHAT DOES WEATHER MODELS INDICATE

Weather models like NCEP GFS, IMD GFS and ECMWF are indicating the remnant of existing low-pressure area over Marathwada would move across, Marathwada, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and emerge into west-central & adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around May 27.

It would lead to the formation of a low-pressure area over the same region around May 28. The system will then move north northwestwards along the Odisha coast and then nearly northwards.

It may increase monsoon current over the Bay of Bengal.

However, NCEP GFS is also indicating development of a low-pressure area over west-central & adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around May 28 with initial north-northwestwards movement along the coast and then northeastwards movement towards southeast Bangladesh.

No significant intensification is indicated, according to IMD’s tropical weather outlook.
