Baripada/Udala: Police have arrested three person in connection with the alleged attack on additional tehsildar Bhimakanta Majhi by suspected sand mafia in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Monday morning.
The accused, identified as Aakash Nayak, Manas Puhana and Rajat Mohanty, were nabbed from Kaptipada bazaar. Efforts are on to nab over 20 others involved in the incident, police source said.
Meanwhile, CCTV footage of the attack, which occurred in front of Kaptipada police station, has gone viral on social media, sparking public outrage over the safety of government officials.
The senior revenue administration officer was first threatened while leaving his office to investigate illegal sand mining after getting a tip-off at around 4 am and was beaten when he went to the police station to seek help. Both the front and rear windshields of the car were smashed in the attack.
