Bengaluru: Soon after tragedy unfolded outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4, all stakeholders which arranged the IPL victory celebrations for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) faced tough questions.
People from all quarters demanded accountability from the state government, police administration, RCB management, event organisers.
Even as the Siddaramaiah-headed Karnataka government ordered a judicial inquiry, took action against the police commissioner and other senior officers, arrested officials of the event management firm, Virat Kohli is also facing the heat.
The talisman and the most prominent name in the RCB team, Kohli has been facing questions about the way he reacted to the loss of 11 lives and also why he and the players were celebrating in the stadium when news of the terrible stampede was spreading like wild fire.
Now, a complaint has been filed against Indian cricket’s superstar in connection with the Bengaluru stampede.
The complaint was lodged on Friday by social activist HM Venkatesh, a resident of Karnataka’s Shivamogga district, at Bengaluru’s Cubbon Park police station.
However, no FIR has been registered based the complaint yet.
Police said that the complaint will be considered under an already registered case and will be verified during the course of the investigation.
Earlier on Friday, a 25-year-old man who claims to be a survivor of the stampede also filed an FIR at the Cubbon Park PS.
In the FIR, Roland Gomes held the RCB franchise, Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and event management firm DNA responsible for the deadly stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium.
On Thursday, an FIR was registered against RCB, DNA and KSCA, based on which arrests have been made and a thorough investigation is underway.
