Bhubaneswar: Passengers on board the 18448 Hirakhand Express, travelling from Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh to Bhubaneswar, had a harrowing experience on Sunday.
Having departed from Jagdalpur in the afternoon, the train came to a sudden halt near Amagura. Due to a technical glitch, one of the coaches of the Hirakhand Express was detached from the rest of the train, according to reports.
All passengers are learnt to be safe.
Railway officials and engineers are at the site to carry out track inspection and necessary repair work.
Efforts are underway to ensure the Hirakhand Express can continue its Bhubaneswar-bound journey without too much delay for the passengers.
The Hirakhand Express, which operates in the East Coast Railway zone using LHB rakes, covers a distance of around 785 km in 16 hours and serves Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
In January 2017, the Hirakhand Express met with an accident which led to 41 lives being lost while 68 persons were injured after the train derailed in Andhra’s Kuneru.
