Mumbai: Amid grave concerns and mistrust on Air India following last month’s horrific crash of the London-bound flight AI-171 in Ahmedabad, Shabana Azmi reiterated faith in the Tata Group airline by praising it for ‘best in-flight service.’

Shabana took to her X handle on Tuesday to share a picture with her husband, veteran lyricist-writer Javed Akhtar, as they flew in an Air India flight to London to watch the Wimbledon 2025 championship.

Tagging Javed in her post, Shabana wrote, “Off to #London for @Wimbledon on ⁦@airindia. Reiterating faith in our National carrier with the best inflight service in the world !”

Air India’s official X account replied, “Dear Ms. Azmi, Thank you for choosing to fly with us. Wishing you a wonderful time at Wimbledon and a truly comfortable journey with us.”

Earlier, actress Raveena Tandon also chose to fly Air India and shared about her flight on Instagram.

“New Beginnings … to rise and fly again against all odds … to pick up and start all over, new resolve towards greater strength. The atmosphere solemn and the crews welcoming smiles, tinted with sadness. The Silent passengers and crew bonding with unspoken condolences and subtle confidence. Condolences to the families that have lost their loved ones. A wound that will never heal. Godspeed always @airindia . Fearless and a will To overcome and be strong again,” Raveena wrote.

On June 12, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, carrying 232 passengers and 10 crew members from Ahmedabad to London, crashed on a medical college hostel building close to the airport, just 32 seconds after take-off.

As many as 241 people on board, including 169 Indians, 53 Britons, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian, lost their lives, along with 30 people on ground.

A British national named Vishwashkumar Ramesh, seated in 11A, was the sole survivor as he miraculously walked out of the ball of fire.
