Mumbai: A couple of months back, Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar’s drastic weight loss had sparked speculation over the use of a drug called Ozempic.
In recent photos shared by comedian Samay Raina, the filmmaker looks quite lean and weak, leaving netizens worried about his health.
Sharing the pictures on his Instagram Stories, Samay wrote, “The guy who launched India’s best talent”.
Expressing concern over Karan’s feeble look and wondering if it is Ozempic side-effects, a user wrote, “He is shrinking and ageing faster than expected.”
Another person commented, “I hope he’s doing well and in good health. Given that it’s just him and his mother taking care of his kids”.
One user mentioned, “Looks ill.. No matter who ever tries to defend him”.
“He was so nice earlier. Don’t know what’s his obsession with losing weight and looking like a malnutrition guy,” said one netizen.
“Is he suffering from something? Don’t think this kind of weight loss is anywhere near healthy,” read one comment.

In 2024, Karan clarified that the drastic physical transformation was due to his strict weight loss and diet choices.
Reacting to rumours of ‘using Ozempic for fast weight loss’, Karan wrote on Instagram Stories, “Being healthy and eating well and reinventing the wheel of your own nutrition! Aur Ozempic ko mile credit (And the credit goes to Ozempic)??”
He attributed his weight loss to One Meal a Day (OMAD) diet.
