Jajpur: Four people have been detained by police for allegedly raping a 15-year-old trainee of a hockey training centre in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
Two among the accused are coaches. They have been booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 70(2) (gang rape), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 74 (criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 3(5) (common intention), as well as under the Protection of Children from Secual Offence (POCSO) Act.
According to the FIR registered on Sunday night, the minor girl was gangraped on the evening of July 3 following a coaching session at a local stadium. The survivor claimed that the accused, men in their 30s, took her to a lodge, where they forcibly raped her. She reported being assaulted when she resisted and threatened with harm if she disclosed the incident.
The survivor’s statement was recorded before a woman magistrate in POCSO court under Section 183 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) on Monday.
