Berhampur: A gas leak incident at the outpatient department (OPD) of MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Odisha’s Berhampur city created panic among patients.
As per preliminary information, gas was stated to have leaked from the fire extinguisher equipment installed near the OPD when the outdoor was crowded with a large number of patients and attendants.
The incident, which happened suddenly, triggered among patients and their attendants. Many of them were seen running helter skelter out of fear. The incident was reported to have taken place near the obstetrics and gynaecology department.
It took some time for the hospital staff to ascertain the source of the gas that spread in the entire area.
After being informed, a team from the fire service reached the site and took immediate steps to bring the situation under control. Further details are awaited.
