Bhubaneswar: Heavy to very heavy rain together with thunderstorm activity and lightning is likely to lash several parts of Odisha till the morning of August 1, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.
The weather agency has issued orange and yellow warnings for different districts of the state during the period.
It has sounded an orange warning for Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Bhadrak districts till the morning of Thursday. Heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at a few places over these districts during the period.
Similarly, yellow warning has been issued for several districts during the period. Heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Angul, Deogarh, and Dhenkanal.
Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati.
On July 31-August 1, heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh.
Likewise, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
