Bhubaneswar: All post offices under Khurda district, Bhubaneswar postal division, Balasore, and parts of the Jeypore circle will remain closed on Saturday for a major one-day software upgrade.
According to senior superintendent of posts, Bhubaneswar postal division, Tarini Charan Padhi, the temporary shutdown, affecting all post offices in these areas, is part of a planned system enhancement to resolve persistent issues troubling staff and customers. “All post offices under the division, including those in Khurda district, will be non-operational for the day. The closure is meant to facilitate the rollout of a new, improved software system aimed at addressing persistent issues that have affected both employees and customers,” the press release read.
The department is introducing its own the Advanced Postal Technology 2.0 software, replacing SAP software, across all its branches to streamline workflow. The SAP software caused delays and frequent downtime.
“We have been using SAP software, but our staff were facing some issues with it, which affected the transactions. We have developed new software called Advanced Postal Technology 2.0. It will make work easier for our staff and improve the department’s efficiency,” said Tapas Kumar Das, Superintendent of Post Offices, Balasore.
Following the installation, the new software will be functional in these post offices starting Monday, he added.
