Bengaluru: In a significant development, Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) president Pankaj Lochan Mohanty met National Cricket Academy (NCA) director VVS Laxman in Bengaluru.
Sources said Mohanty himself has described his meeting with the former international cricketer who heads NCA and BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru as pleasant and fruitful.
The interaction held during the meeting was considered a part of a strategic move as the OCA president has been making concerted efforts to nurture young cricketing talent in Odisha. As OCA president and also chief of MGM School of Sports, Mohanty is actively engaged in giving a significant push to groom talented players in the state.
The meeting is seen as a major move to get Laxman’s attention towards the state. A celebrated former international cricketer, Laxman is directly involved in mentoring young players and his guidance is seen as invaluable.
The meeting highlights the OCA’s push to align with the national cricket board’s vision for talent development.

Sources said Mohanty also met cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi at the NCA in Bengaluru.
Mohanty has also been at the forefront of a groundbreaking initiative, with the MGM School of Sports is nurturing young talents in cricket.
