Bhubaneswar: The Regional News Unit (RNU) of Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) Bhubaneswar on Friday launched its maiden Sambalpuri language news bulletin.
The inaugural Sambalpuri news bulletin’s first telecast began on the occasion of 79th Independence Day in the presence of a host of prominent guests, invited from Western Odisha.
According to the DDK Bhubaneswar officials, the regional news bulletin will have special focus on development of Western Odisha and the Sambalpuri Language.
It may be noted that the DDK & Prasar Bharati had earlier announced to launch regional news bulletin in Sambalpuri, Santhali and Desia language, for promotion and wide-reach of the dialects.
Officials said the first bulletin was telecast at 11 am on DD Odia and was also live-streamed on the official YouTube channel of DD News Odia.
The inaugural bulletin highlighted Independence Day celebrations across India and Odisha, with special coverage on events in Western Odisha, where Sambalpuri is widely spoken.
To mark this significant launch, a ceremonial event was held at Doordarshan Kendra Bhubaneswar. The event was presided over by Narasingha Jethi, Deputy Director General (E), Doordarshan Bhubaneswar. Senior officials from Doordarshan Bhubaneswar, All India Radio Cuttack, and the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Bhubaneswar were also present.
