New York: In another scary incident of mass shooting in the US, at least three people were killed and eight others injured after several gunmen opened fire inside a restaurant in Brooklyn, New York City, around 3.30 am on Sunday (1 pm IST).
The shooting took place at the popular Taste of the City Lounge on Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights.
The deceased were identified as three men, two of them aged 27 and 35, and the third of an unknown age, according to the New York Post.
New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said officers responded within minutes to multiple 911 calls and found 11 gunshot victims ranging whose ages were from 27 to 61.
The wounded persons are being treated at local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have not arrested any suspect so far, even as investigators believe there were multiple gunmen.
“We have the lowest number of shooting incidents and shooting victims seven months into the year that we’ve seen on record in the city of New York. Something like this is, of course, thank God, an anomaly and it’s a terrible thing that happened this morning, but we’re going to investigate and get to the bottom of what went down,” Tisch said.

The Taste of the City lounge, which serves American and Caribbean dishes and has a full bar, hookah, and DJs, opened in 2022. It is located less than half a mile from the Brooklyn Museum and closed at 3 am on Sunday, just before the firing took place.
Investigators found at least 36 shell casings and a gun near the scene, Fox News reported. Police are investigating whether it was used in the shooting.
There has been an increase in the number of mass shootings in several US cities due to the easy and widespread availability of guns.
A number of law enforcement officers were shot in southern Virginia recently when they were serving warrants at a home.
Last weekend, at least three people were injured in Times Square, one of New York’s most popular tourist places, after gunshots were fired following a dispute. A teenaged suspect has been taken into custody and a firearm seized from his possession.
In July, shooting in a Manhattan office tower left four people dead, including a senior Blackstone executive and an NYPD officer.
