Mumbai: A star-studded premiere release event of star kid Aryan Khan’s directorial debut ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’ was held at the YRF studios in Mumbai on Wednesday.
The event saw Shah Rukh Khan playing the emcee, introducing the cast of his son’s debut project, before inviting the director himself on stage.
When Shah Rukh introduced his old friend Bobby Deol, who plays an ageing superstar in the show, the latter showered praises on new director Aryan, but had one complaint.
Sharing his experience of working with Aryan, Bobby revealed that he kept on demanding retakes during the shoot.
At one time, Bobby had to call up Shah Rukh and ask him to intervene as Aryan was going on asking for retakes.
“It’s very difficult to get your emotions what you write on paper for each character, and the way Aryan has done that is just amazing. Everybody, from mature characters to younger characters, he’s just brought out the best in everyone,” Bobby shared.
“Woh alag baat hai usne bahut nichoda humein. Bahut mehnat karvayi humse. Main bas dekhta rehta hai. Bolta tha one more, I’d say koi baat nahin beta one more. Shuru me to laga kuch kam one more karvayega, lekin uske one more band hi nahin hue (However, he did make us work really hard. I used to watch him ask for one more take, and I’d say no issue, son, we will do it. Initially, I thought he’d relent, but his one more did not end),” he added with a hearty laugh.
Soon, Shah Rukh chimed in, “Main ek baat bataun ek baar raat ko bhi phone kiya mujhe, ‘aa jaa yaar bahut takes le raha hai ye, ab mujhko jaana hai’ (Once Bobby called me at night asking me to come because Aryan was asking for too many takes. He had to go somewhere).”
‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’, starring Lakshay, Sahher Bamba and Bobby Deol, is a satire on the Hindi film industry.
Written and directed by Aryan, the show will start streaming on Netflix from September 18.
