Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for 14 districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 1.15 am on Saturday.
Light to moderate rain accompanied by thundershower and lightning may occur at one or two places in Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Khurda (Bhubaneswar), Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Ganjam and Balasore in 3 hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
This warning has come amid formation of a low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal. The system is expected to move west northwestwards across Jharkhand during the next 24 hours and weaken gradually thereafter.
