New Delhi: A day after police arrested Vipin Bhati for the alleged murder of his wife Nikki in Noida, he tried to snatch the pistol from one of the police officials as an attempt to flee from custody on Sunday.
The case is also linked to dowry allegations against Bhati.
According to reports, Noida police officials shot Bhati in the leg as he tried to escape.
Greater Noida Additional DCP Sudhir Kumar said, as reported by Hindustan Times, the accused attempted to give the cops a slip when he was taken for recovery.
“The deceased’s husband/accused has been taken into custody. Police teams have been formed to arrest the others. The arrest of others will be ensured soon. The deceased’s family and other people had come to Kasna police station demanding proper investigation and no lapse in the action. All the above people have gone back from the police station after the talks being completely satisfied,” police told HT.

The 28-year-old was allegedly set on fire by her husband and in-laws in Greater Noida’s Sirsa village over a dowry demand. Nikki’s sister Kanchan, who is also married in the same house, lodged an FIR and reportedly told police that the family would torture and abuse both of them over dowry demands.
Here’s the timeline
August 21: Around 5.30pm, Vipin, along with his mother Daya, father Satyaveer, and brother Rohit, allegedly poured an inflammable substance on the deceased, her sister claimed. They allegedly set her ablaze.
On way to hospital: The victim was rushed to Fortis hospital by her sister. She was referred to Safdarjung. She succumbed to her injuries on the way.
Arrest follows: Noida police arrested Bhati, her husband for his alleged involvement in the case. A case has also been registered against Daya, Satyaveer, and her brother-in-law Rohit. They are currently absconding.
