Bhubaneswar: A patient died after allegedly falling off the third floor of Government Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Sundargarh on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Anil Soreng from Dainidihi village.
According to sources, he was admitted to the hospital on Sunday. Though he was scheduled to be discharged on Tuesday, Anil grew impatient and got out of bed, opened the window, and climbed onto the roof at around 6 am despite his mother Ilisaba Soreng’s repeated pleas to wait.
However, he lost his balance and fell, getting stuck on the ledge for about 30 minutes. Despite his cries for help, no hospital staff responded, and onlookers below did not intervene.
Anil eventually lost his grip, fell, and died instantly.
His mother alleged medical negligence, claiming the hospital ignored her son’s pleas for rescue.
Hospital authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
