Baripada: A former Technical Consultant with the District Project Office of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj has been convicted and sentenced to imprisonment for two years by the Vigilance court in Baripada for corruption.
Arup Kumar Jena is currently working as a Junior Engineer with the Rural Water Supply Scheme (RWSS) at Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district.
Jena was found guilty of possessing disproportionate assets and was sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 1,00,000.
The conviction stems from a case registered under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Section 109 of the Indian Penal Code.
Following the conviction, the Odisha Vigilance is set to approach the competent authority to initiate proceedings for Jena’s dismissal from service as a Junior Engineer with RWSS Paralakhemundi.
