Baripada: In a twist to the recent gangrape allegation made by a young woman in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj, police have termed the case as false and fabricated as part of a conspiracy
The woman in her complaint had alleged that five men sexually assaulted her on the Udala-Balasore State Highway on August 29 after luring her with the promise of a job. Based on her complaint, a case was registered at Udala police station.
However, police said that investigations showed false allegation was orchestrated by some distant relatives of the woman and her mother in a larger conspiracy.
During probe, police found no evidence to support the allegations. Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Udala told reporters that the accused were not even present at the spot when the incident was alleged to have taken place.
The probe further revealed that two persons currently lodged in Baripada Jail in connection with separate cases, hatched the plot in a calculated attempt to falsely implicate the complainants involved in their respective cases.
Police also clarified that one of the named accused, Bhagabat Tudu, was in Telangana at the time of the alleged incident and had no involvement in the matter.
The woman also confessed that she had lodged a false complaint at the behest of others.
