New Delhi: Five educational institutions of Odisha have been placed in the country’s top 100 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings 2025 under the overall category. The NIRF rankings were released on Thursday.
Among state public universities, Utkal University is at 48th spot with a score of 50.53. The top spot in the state public university category has been bagged by Jadavpur University with 76.08 score followed by Anna University, Chennai with 76.06 score at the second spot. In the overall category, the top spot has been taken by IIT-Madras with 87.31 score, followed by IIS (Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru) at 2nd position with 85.00 score. None of the colleges in Odisha have made it to the list of top 100 colleges in the country.
The Odisha educational institutions, which are in the list, include Siksha `O` Anusandhan, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, National Institute of Technology Rourkela, Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar, and All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhubaneswar.
With a score of 61.01, SOA has been ranked at 25th, KIIT at 27th (60.13 score), NIIT Rourkela at 34 (58.5 score), IIT Bhubaneswar at 80 (51.16 score) and AIIMS Bhubaneswar at 100 (49.04 score).
Odisha in engineering category
However, in the engineering category, NIIT Rourkela has been ranked 13th in the country with a score of 66.62, followed by SOA at 22nd spot (62.58), KIIT at 36th rank (58.79), IIT Bhubaneswar at 39th rank (58.22) and C.V. Raman Global University, Odisha at 95th rank (with 46.62 score).
Odisha in medical category
In the medical category, All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhubaneswar is at 14th spot ( 64.31 score), followed by SOA at 15th (63.73) and KIIT at 24 (61 score).
Odisha in management category
In the management category, five Odisha institutes feature with IIM Sambalpur at 34th rank with 58.59 score. The other spots have been bagged by XIM University (45th spot), SOA (66th spot), KIIT (68th) and IMI Bhubaneswar at 94.
The 2025 edition, marking the 10th release, covers nine categories, Overall, Universities, Colleges, Research Institutions, Innovation, State Public Universities, Open Universities, Skill Universities, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition, it evaluates institutions in eight subject-specific areas, Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Medical, Architecture & Planning, Law, Dental, and Agriculture & Allied Sciences.
