Bhubaneswar: A high-level review meeting will be convened on September 10 to reconsider women applicants earlier exempted from Subhadra Yojana, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida informed on Tuesday.
The Deputy CM said that the government will ensure that no eligible beneficiaries is left out of the scheme.
Accordingly, the Women and Child Development Department, led by Parida, has sought reports from three key departments—Commerce & Transport, Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare, and Health. “We have always maintained that all eligible women will be covered under the scheme. We have sought clarifications from three departments, and based on their inputs, decisions on including the exempted beneficiaries will be taken in tomorrow’s review meeting,” she told reporters.
The Commerce & Transport Department was asked to verify applicants owning four-wheelers, while an updated list of deceased beneficiaries was sought from the Health Department. The Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department was directed to submit details of land owned by the women applicants.
Over 1 crore women have so far benefited from the ruling BJP’s flagship fund-transfer scheme, which was launched on September 17, 20204, aiming to empower women aged 21 to 60 years. The beneficiaries are paid Rs 10,000 per annum in two instalments of Rs 5,000 each on Rakhi Purnima and International Women’s Day on March 8.
The scheme will be implemented from 2024-25 to 2028-29 and each beneficiary will receive Rs 50,000 over a period of five years. An outlay of Rs 55,825 crore has been approved for the initiative.
