Rourkela: Two young archery players from the SAI Training Centre in Odisha’s Sundargarh will travel to South Korea for special training. Their coach will also accompany them.

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has nominated 20 young archers and three coaches from its various centres across the country to undergo high-level training and gain international exposure abroad. They will all train at the Kim Hyung Tak Archery Training Centre in Korea from September 21 to 27.

From Sundargarh, Kasturi Munda (sub-junior category) and Mamita Oram (junior category) have been selected. This is the first time that trainees from the Sundargarh centre have been chosen for overseas training. Among the three coaches selected, Sundargarh’s coach Abhay Dev is also included.

Before leaving for Korea, all 20 archers underwent training at the National Centre of Excellence, Sonipat (Haryana) from September 1 to 20. The team will depart for Korea on September 21.
