Hyderabad: Actor-politician Pawan Kalyan wanted to impress his fans at the pre-release event of his film ‘OG’, and almost caused a terrible mishap.
The popular Telugu actor, who is also the deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, entered the Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad amid heavy rainfall and thunderstorm, wielding a sword (katana).
Dressed as his character in the film, Ojas Gambheera aka OG, Kalyan was greeted by a massive crowd who braved inclement weather to attend their favourite hero’s event.
He showed off the sword to the audience and swung it on stage, narrowly missing one of his bodyguards standing behind him. The man had to take quick evasive action to escape being struck by the sword.
The video of the incident, which took place on Sunday, went viral on social media.

One netizen even urged authorities to take action against the deputy CM.
“Kindly take note 🚨 During the OG pre-release event, DCM Pawan Kalyan openly encouraged youth with a katana on stage. Such acts promote unsafe behaviour & set a wrong example for fans. Requesting immediate action,” the post read.
The 54-year-Kalyan, who founded the Janasena Party in 2014, is in alliance — with TDP and BJP — which swept to power in Andhra in 2024.
Kalyan, who has a massive fan base and is loved for his action-oriented films, made his debut in Telugu cinema 1996 with ‘Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi’. He rose to stardom with films like ‘Tholi Prema’ (1998), which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu, and blockbusters like ‘Gabbar Singh’ (2012) and ‘Attarintiki Daredi’ (2013).
