Home guards to hold mass convention in city on Sept 8
Bhubaneswar: Over 17,000 home guards from different parts of the state are expected to participate in a mass convention scheduled to be held in the city on September 8, seeking immediate fulfillment of their seven-point charter of demands.
It is being organised by Rajya Gruharakhi Mahasangha.
“The state government should initiate immediate steps for bringing reforms in Orissa Home Guards Act, 1961, so as to provide better
service conditions to the home guards. We also demand insurance for home guards and a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of Sandip Hati, who had immolated himself after being sacked from service last year,” Mahasangha president Upendra Mohapatra said at a media conference here on Monday.
