It is likely to continue to move west-northwestwards across Vidarbha and weaken gradually into a well-marked low-pressure area during the next 12 hours.

The depression had crossed the south Odisha coast close to Gopalpur in Ganjam district early this morning, bringing heavy rain in several districts of the state. There was a warning for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph for Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Bargarh and Malkangiri dsitricts.

While the intensity of rain is likely to decline during the next three days, the state is bracing for another low-pressure area, which may form over north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal around October 1.

Thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30- 40 kmph may occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar from September 28 to 30.

Heavy Rain accompanied by thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may resume in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam on October 1.

The weather agency further stated that heavy rain may continue in Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal on October 2 and Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Balangir on October 3.
