Bhubaneswar: Two more Odisha-cadre IAS officers – Samarth Verma and Swadha Dev Singh – are set to proceed on central deputation.
Verma, a 2011-batch officer, has been appointed as the Director in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways for a period of five years from the date of assuming the charge, and Singh, a 2014-batch officer, as Director of Census Operations and Director of Citizen Registration in the office of Registrar General of India (RGI).
The officers have been asked to join their posts in three weeks, according to the notification issued by the Ministry of Personnel.
The two officers are a couple and had tied the nuptial knot in 2023.
This comes almost a week after senior IAS officer Shalini Pandit (2001 batch) was appointed as the Joint Secretary, Department of Financial Services in the Union Ministry of Finance.
Earlier this year, two other IAS officers from Odisha, Ashish Thakare and R Vineel Krishna, left on central deputation as Director in D/o Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Delhi, and Joint Secretary of Sports Department under the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, respectively.
In April, senior IAS officer Nikunja Bihari Dhal, who was serving as additional chief secretary to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, was moved to the Centre. The 1993-batch officer took charge as Secretary in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs upon the superannuation of the current Secretary, Umang Narula, on June 30.
