Bhubaneswar: The depression continued to over interior Odisha on Friday and is likely to further weaken into a well-marked low-pressure in next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

In a special bulletin, the IMD said that the depression over interior Odisha moved north-north-westwards with a speed of 15 kmph during past six hours and lay centred about 60 km of Phulbani, 90 km of Sambalpur (Odisha) and about 100 km of Bhawanipatna in Odisha.

The system is likely to move initially north-north-westwards across interior Odisha and then northwards across north Chhattisgarh and weaken gradually into a well-marked low- pressure area during next 24 hours.

Under its influence, heavy rain and thunderstorm activity may continue in several parts of Odisha for two days.

In next 24 hours, isolated heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda. The weather agency has issued an orange warning for these districts.

Similarly, yellow warning of isolated heavy rainfall and thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph was issued for the districts Sambalpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bargarh, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, and Balangir.

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Deogarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal.

On October 4-5, yellow warning of isolated heavy rainfall and thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph has been issued for the districts of Nabarangpur, and Nuapada.

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

On October 5-6, thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 gusting to 60 kmph is likely to prevail over interior Odisha till Friday afternoon. It would decrease thereafter becoming 35-45 gusting to 55 kmph over interior Odisha by evening for subsequent 12 hours

Sea condition is very likely to be rough to moderate over northwest & adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal and along & off Odisha coast till afternoon of October 3. Fishermen are advised not to venture into West-central & adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal and along & off Andhra Pradesh-Odisha-West Bengal coasts till afternoon of October 3.
