Eligible citizens can still apply for inclusion in the voter list by October 10, ten days before the nomination deadline of October 20. The final updated list will be published seven days later.
The bye-election is set to witness a fierce battle among the major political parties. While the Congress has already announced senior tribal leader Ghasiram Majhi as its candidate, the BJP and BJD are yet to announce their candidates.
Sources said that BJP’s core committee meeting is scheduled to be held to discuss the by-election, while BJD has formed a panel of senior leaders for selection of party candidate for the upcoming bypoll.
It may be noted that the bye-election in Nuapada has been necessitated following the demise of four-time MLA Rajendra Dholakia.
