Bhubaneswar: Rain accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning is likely to lash at least five districts of Odisha on Thursday night, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a nowcast warning.
The weather agency has also issued warning for state capital Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city.
In a message issued at 8.55 pm, the IMD sounded a yellow warning for Khurda (including Bhubaneswar city), Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Nayagarh, Rayagada and Kandhamal districts.
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm with lightning may occur in some places of these districts within next three hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
