Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Alokika Swain won a bronze medal in the U-18 girls’ Javel event on the second day of the 40th National Junior Athletics Championships at Kalinga Stadium here on Saturday.
The 16-year-old Alokika, from Jajatsinghpur, finished third in the competition with a best throw of 47.56 metres.

On Day 1, Odisha claimed a pair of silver medals through sprinter Pratik Maharana and triathlete Chhabindra Behera.
The 18-year-old Pratik clocked 10.72 seconds to finish second in U-20 men’s 100m event. Pratik will hope to turn silver into gold when he runs in the 200m race, as well as in relay event.
Chhabindra, an up-and-coming 13-year-old from Keonjhar, finished second in U-14 boys’ triathlon B event.
