Paradip: AM/NS Ports recently organised an eye check-up camp at Lockpada Upper Primary School under its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Project ‘Aarogya’, to mark World Sight Day.
More than 90 students, along with teachers and staff, attend the camp conducted by Dr. Soumya Sucharita and Ankita Rout, optometrists from JPM Rotary Eye Hospital. Several children were identified with minor vision issues and were advised to use corrective eyeglasses, which will be provided free of cost by the Vision Centre of AM/NS Ports here. The doctors also educated students on how to maintain eye health.
The initiative is aligned with this year’s global theme ‘Love Your Eyes’, with an aim to raise awareness on eye care among school students, the company said in a release.
It was held under the supervision of Lockpada Upper Primary School headmaster Kanhu Charan Behera with support from teachers Sumitra Panigrahi, Yosobanti Das, and Minarva Sahoo.
It further stated that the Vision Centre of AM/NS Ports has provided eye screening to more than one lakh people and facilitating 3,500+ free cataract surgeries at JPM Rotary Eye Hospital, reinforcing its commitment to accessible healthcare and community well-being.
