Bhadrak : A 30-year-old woman block agriculture officer (BAO) was found hanging in her rented house at Balinagar village under Basudevpur police limits in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Niharika Dalai. She was posted in Basudevpur block for the past two years and was staying in the rented accommodation with her seven-year-old daughter. Her husband Satyabrata Padhi is a software engineer working in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, Dalai, who had been on leave for the last few day, dropped her daughter at school in the morning and then went shopping. After returning home, she locked herself inside and did not respond to any phone call. Later, when the local milkman arrived and got no response despite knocking repeatedly, he alerted the landlord. When repeated knocks on the door went unanswered, the house owner informed the Basudevpur police, who rushed to the spot and found Dalai’s body hanging from the ceiling with an apron after breaking open the door.
While the body was seized and sent to the hospital for postmortem, police have launched a probe to determine the exact circumstances leading to her death.
