Bhubaneswar: Family members of a woman from Odisha have lodged a complaint with police, alleging that she was raped and murdered in Kompally area in Hyderabad.
They have also approached the Khurda Collector here, seeking an impartial probe and swift justice.
The victim, originally from Bharatpur in Bhubaneswar, was living in Hyderabad with her husband and four-year-old son in the quarters of a private construction company in Kompally under the Pet-Basheerabad police limits, where her husband worked in the electronic maintenance division, for the past six months. The incident reportedly took place when her husband was in Bhubaneswar with their son. He had travelled to the city on October 11 to correct a discrepancy in his passport since he had landed a job in Dubai.
On Wednesday (October 15) night, he received a call from the company official, informing him that his wife was ill and urging him to return to Hyderabad. He rushed back on Thursday (October 16) morning only to find his wife dead.
Speaking to the media, mother of the deceased woman said that a drunk man entered hid under the bed when she had gone out to the community toilet and subsequently raped and murdered her. “She spoke to me at 10 pm and the incident happened thereafter. I would like to request the government to help us go to Hyderabad,” she said, while accusing the company officials of a cover-up.
“I along with my wife, were working for the Aparan Greenscapes project. I had gone to the village for 2 days during which my wife was murdered. I have been running from pillar to post at the hospital in Hyderabad for the last two days. The hospital authorities are not allowing me to see her body. The company is also not cooperating and instead the officials are threatening me. I am feeling very helpless. I have lodged a complaint at the local police station. I request the Odisha government to assist me and help me bring my wife’s body back to my home state,” the deceased’s husband said in a video message.
