Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has declared a holiday on Monday for all schools, colleges and state public universities on October 20 on account of Diwali festival across the state, except Nuapada district.
The departments of School & Mass Education and Higher Education on Saturday issued circulars to the authorities concerned in this regard.
The School and Mass Education department stated that all schools functioning under its administrative jurisdiction will remain closed in lieu of a local holiday on October 20.
The department has instructed all District Education Officers (DEOs) to ensure the holiday is observed in all government and government-aided schools across the state, except in Nuapada district.
Similarly, the Higher Education department said all the state public universities and colleges coming under its administrative control, except Nuapada district, will remain closed on October 20 (Monday) on account of celebration of Diwali.
This shall be treated as an additional holiday in lieu of one remaining local holiday.
