Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack till 6.45 pm on Friday.
Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning may occur in the twin cities and Kalahandi, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Cuttack and Khurda districts during this period.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The warning has come amid likely formation of a cyclonic storm over southwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal by October 27 morning, which may trigger heavy to very heavy rain in Odisha. The weather agency has issued an orange warning of heavy to very heavy rain for Kendrapada, Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak on October 28-29.
