Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik during the India Maritime Week 2025 celebrations at the NESCO Grounds in Mumbai.
The Prime Minister stopped and admired Pattnaik’s stunning sand art depicting India’s ancient maritime legacy through the famous Bali Jatra theme, titled “Odisha to Indonesia: Voyage of Heritage.”
Modi was visibly impressed by the creativity of Pattnaik, who hails from Odisha. PM Modi also admired his contribution to promoting India’s rich cultural heritage. He was seen patting the sand artist on the back, appreciating his marvellous piece.
The India Maritime Week saw the Prime Minister inaugurating several key initiatives for the shipping and shipbuilding sectors. PM Modi emphasised the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, a roadmap aimed at establishing India as a global maritime powerhouse.
“It was a proud and memorable moment to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji at the India Maritime Week in Mumbai,” said Pattnaik,
“When the Prime Minister greeted me with ‘Jai Jagannath’ and I had the honour of explaining to him about my sand art on Bali Jatra, symbolising Odisha’s ancient maritime links with Indonesia. I also shared about Kartik Poornima celebrations and Bali Jatra,” the renowned artist said.
