Patna: Mahagatbandhan, spearheaded by the RJD and Congress, are going hammer and tongs at the ruling dispensation in Bihar as the Opposition looks to unseat the Nitish Kumar-helmed and BJP-backed NDA government.

New entrants Jan Suraaj Party, the brainchild of erstwhile political strategist Prashant Kishor, is dreaming of capturing power in its maiden election.

Not to be left behind, NDA is using every opportunity in the home stretch of campaigning ahead of the two-phase Bihar Assembly polls to strengthen its position.

On Sunday, NDA’s star campaigner Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress, claiming that the party’s ‘royal family’ lost sleep when blasts were occurring in Pakistan, and that both Pakistan and the Congress’ naamdars are yet to recover from Operation Sindoor.

“Today, India hunts down terrorists in their own hideouts. Recently, we carried out Operation Sindoor. Didn’t we fulfil our guarantee and prove it before you? Shouldn’t every Indian feel proud of our brave soldiers? But despite the army’s success, the Congress and RJD seem unhappy about it. When blasts were happening in Pakistan, the Congress’ ‘royal family’ lost their sleep. To date, both Pakistan and Congress’ naamdars haven’t recovered from Operation Sindoor,” Modi said at an election rally in Arrah on Sunday.

Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have invoked Operation Sindoor at multiple rallies in Bihar, as the BJP looks to remind voters in Bihar about its major achievement in dealing with cross-border terrorism.

In the early hours of May 7, India’s Armed Forces carried out measured and targeted strikes to destroy nine terror hubs in in Pakistan and PoK to avenge the horrific Pahalgam terror attack which claimed the lives of 26 innocent men.

‘RJD put a gun on Congress head’

Modi also claimed that the Congress was “never willing” to accept Tejashwi Yadav as the chief ministerial candidate, but relented after the RJD “put a katta (country-made pistol) on its head.”

Intensifying his attack on the Mahagathbandhan, Modi accused the opposition of “political gundagardi” as the RJD “snatched” the chief minister’s post.

Describing the alliance as a “divided house,” Modi highlighted its internal conflicts and stated that Congress’s demands were ignored in the manifesto.

The PM warned the public that the power struggle could escalate after the polls, and called the Mahagathbandhan untrustworthy.
