Mumbai: Veteran Bollywood actor Prem Chopra has been admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. The 90-year-old actor, known for his iconic villainous roles in Hindi cinema, is reportedly undergoing treatment for age-related health issues.

Confirming the news, Chopra’s son-in-law and actor Vikas Bhalla said the hospitalisation was only a precautionary step. “It’s all age-related and a regular procedure. There is nothing to worry about,” Bhalla said, adding that the veteran star’s condition is stable.

Family sources said Chopra is expected to be discharged in a couple of days. Doctors at the Bandra-based hospital are keeping him under observation as part of routine medical care.

Prem Chopra, one of the most recognisable faces of Indian cinema’s golden era, has appeared in over 380 films across a career spanning six decades. Known for his memorable line, “Prem naam hai mera, Prem Chopra,” the actor has been an enduring figure in Bollywood, with celebrated performances in films such as Bobby, Upkar, Do Raaste and Kati Patang.

Fans and colleagues from the film industry have wished him a speedy recovery as he continues to receive treatment at Lilavati Hospital.
