Khurda: A girl student, who was rescued in a critical condition near Ostapur in Odisha’s Khurda district, died while undergoing treatment at district headquarters hospital (DHH) here on Sunday.
According to sources, the deceased was a first-year student of DIET at Rajsunakhala in Nayagarh district. She left her institute hostel with a male friend on a motorcycle last evening and had been missing since then.
Locals spotted her in a critical condition near Ostapur under Baghamari police limits this morning and rushed her to DHH, where she succumbed to her injuries.
While police have begun an investigation into the circumstances to ascertain the circumstances leading to her death, some audio clips have emerged containing intense arguments between the victim and her male friends.
This came a day after three persons were detain in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl by her boyfriend and two others under the same police limits. The survivor was initially admitted to the DHH and later shifted to Capital Hospital for treatment after her condition deteriorated.
She too had gone missing on the night of November 19. However, police are still clueless about how and when the girl met her boyfriend, where the assault took place, and how she ended up in hospital.
While the detainees are being questioned, police are waiting to record the girl’s statement, besides the medical report, for some clues into the incident.
