Bhubaneswar: Decomposed body of a lawyer, who had been missing for over two months, was recovered along with his vehicle from a pond at Jharpokharia in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Monday.
The deceased identified as Gulesh Gocchayat (42) was a resident of Thulukchatani village in Bisoi. He had remained untraceable since September 11. His wife had also lodged a missing complaint at Bisoi police after the family was unable to establish contact with him.
Gulesh had left the house saying that he was going to Baharagora in Jharkhand for some work. He later informed his family about travelling to Kharagpur to drop a friend and would drive back home at night. However, he did not return home and his phone was found switched off thereafter, according to sources.
Early this morning, locals of Uparbeda village spotted a partially submerged vehicle in a roadside pond at Silphodi and immediately alerted the police. A Fire Service team also arrived at the spot and pulled the car out of the water. Upon retrieval of the four-wheeler, they discovered the decomposed body of Gulesh inside.
Meanwhile, police have begun an investigation to ascertain events leading to his death.
