Bhubaneswar: A high-level coordination meeting was held on Monday to finalise logistics and review preparedness for President Droupadi Murmu’s upcoming two-day visit to Odisha.
According to sources, the President will arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) at 2 pm on November 27 and will proceed to Raj Bhavan, where she will make a night halt. Murmu is scheduled to address the winter session of the House on November 28, marking the first-ever address by a President to any state Assembly, and later attend a programme at Jayadev Bhawan.
The preparatory meeting, jointly chaired by the Airport Director, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), and DIG (CISF), focused on seamless coordination among all agencies for smooth conduct of the VVIP movement. Officials from the Airport Authority of India, CISF, Intelligence Bureau, Odisha Police, and Fire Services along with senior officers from Khurda district administration, Public Works Department, Electricity Department, and the Traffic Wing were present.
Sources further stated that a comprehensive four-tier security cover has been put in place, with 25 platoons of police deployed to ensure the President’s safety.
A robust four-layer security blanket has been planned, with 25 platoons of armed police force deployed for the President’s protection. The Commissionerate Police has established a three-tier security system that will be reinforced by President’s Bodyguard (PBG) commandos and other elite units.
Within the airport premises, the inner cordon will be manned by CISF, while heavy police deployment outside the Assembly and along the routes will form part of the integrated central–state security apparatus. Barricades will also be erected along the routes from the airport to Raj Bhavan and from Raj Bhavan to the Assembly to ensure smooth and secure passage.
Overall security supervision will be handled by five officers of DCP rank, assisted by five ACPs, 20 Inspectors, and 30 supporting officers.
