Mumbai: Twinkle Khanna and Kajol faced backlash for expressing their views on marriage and relationships on their talk show ‘Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle’.
Reacting to the backlash, the talk show hosts clarified that their remarks were light-hearted and not intended to upset or hurt anyone.
They also admitted that their talk show should have included a disclaimer from the very beginning.
Addressing the criticism in a newly-released bonus episode of the show, Kajol said, “Now it’s time for our next segment, which has gotten us into a lot of trouble.”
She continued, “Here opinions don’t matter as much as lighthearted teasing.”
Twinkle added, “And there’s a disclaimer, which we should have had from the first episode, that nothing we say in this segment should be taken seriously. Please don’t follow any of our advice in this segment.”
Some of the remarks which created a stir on social media included the segment where actors Vicky Kaushal and Kriti Sanon appeared as guests.
During a discussion with the actors, host Kajol shared her belief that marriages should come with an expiry date and an option for renewal, which some viewers felt was in bad taste.
The hosts landed in a soup after defending infidelity in the episode which featured Janhvi Kapoor and Karan Johar as guests. Kajol and Twinkle said physical infidelity was “not a deal breaker” for them.
When Karan said, “Physical infidelity is not a deal breaker,” Janhvi replied, “No, the deal is broken.”
Twinkle added, “We’re in our 50s, she’s in her 20s, and she will get into this circle soon. She hasn’t seen the things we have seen. Raat gayi baat gayi (What’s happened, has happened).”
