Berhampur: In view of prevailing cold weather conditions across Odisha, authorities in Ganjam district have directed schools to switch from morning sessions to regular day shifts on Saturdays.
The District Education Officer (DEO) of Ganjam issued a circular on Thursday instructing headmasters of all government and government-aided elementary and secondary schools to adopt normal daytime schedules for classes held from Monday to Saturday.”Keeping in view the current cold and freezing weather conditions and the safety of school-going children, it has been decided to conduct classes on Saturdays in the day shift as per normal school timings until further orders,” the DEO stated in the communiqué.
The decision comes as Odisha continues to experience a severe cold wave, with temperatures dropping significantly in many parts of the state, prompting measures to protect students from early morning chill.
