New Delhi: India’s fastest train faced a shower of stones near Achalda in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. This led to the driver’s screen and a few side windows being damaged.

The incident took place after Dibrugarh Rajdhani, crossing on the adjoining line, ran over a cattle, according to Northern Railways Chief Public Relation Officer.

“The stone chunks hit the driver’s windscreen and one each side outer glasses of windows of coach numbers C4, C6, C7, C8, C13 and two glass panes of C12, causing damage,” the CPRO said.

Safety sheets were put on the windows where the outer glasses were damaged and the train ran at normal speed, informs officials.

Train 18 or Vande Bharat Express is the fastest train in the country clocking 130 kmph on this route. The made-in-India engine-less train has modern features such as bio-vacuum toliets, automatic doors and foot rests, real time audio visual annoucements, WiFi on board and even catering from star hotels.

The train has previously been attacked by stones during trial runs on December 20 and February 2.
