Malkangiri: The excise sleuths on Thursday seized five quintal of cannabis from a coconut-laden pick-up van near Balimela in Malkangiri
district and arrested two persons in this connection.
Acting on a tip-off regarding smuggling of cannabis from Chitrakonda in the district to Angul, a team of excise officials
intercepted the vehicle. During search, the contraband was found stuffed in sacks under the coconuts.
The market value of the seized ganja is estimated to be more than Rs 25 lakh, an excise official said.
