Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday informed that 95 per cent of complaints received at the CM’s grievance cell have been addressed.

Speaking to the media after the 16th session here, Majhi emphasised his government’s commitment to resolving public issues promptly. “Ordinary citizens are getting justice through this platform. Long-pending problems from various regions are being addressed. This has built public trust and interest in the grievance hearing process, which will continue at regular intervals in the future,” he said.

Highlight the pace of disposal, the CM said that 12,748 of 13,358 complaints received during the first 15 sessions have been resolved and the remaining are under process. “Considering that complaints are filed both individually and in groups (typically 2-10 persons per petition), over 56,000 people have visited the grievance cell so far. Additionally, through Jan Sunani portal, post, and other channels, 1,49,418 complaints have been received, of which 1,30,845 (88%) have been resolved,” he further noted.

Majhi also outlined plans to make the redressal system more structured by conducting hearings every Monday, three to four times a month, and extending the programme to additional venues across the state in collaboration with district collectors.

Today’s Hearing

The Chief Minister first met around 30 differently-abled persons and those suffering from critical illnesses. He personally received their petitions and instructed officials to take immediate action. Subsequently, he heard grievances from complainants registered inside the cell. Majhi also sanctioned medical assistance through the single-window system for three individuals battling serious illnesses: Papun Maharana from Keonjhar district, Priyabrat Pradhan from Khordha district, and Deeptimayee Das from Cuttack district.

Majhi underscored that the initiative aims to foster greater direct interaction between the government and the public, promoting a more inclusive and responsive administration.

The hearing was attended by several senior ministers, including Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, and School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond.
