Jajpur: The 2nd edition of the Guru Padmasambhava Prayer Meeting and International Buddhist Conference is currently being held at the renowned Buddhist heritage sites of Ratnagiri, Udayagiri, and Lalitgiri—collectively known as Odisha’s Diamond Triangle.
Organised by the Light of Buddhism Foundation International in collaboration with the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture and the Tourism Department of Odisha, the 6-day event from January 11 to 16 features daily prayer sessions and scholarly discussions.
Daily prayer meetings are being held throughout the duration of the program, creating a spiritual atmosphere at these historic sites. The highlight of the event will be the International Buddhist Conference scheduled for January 14 and 15, which will bring together Buddhist gurus, devotees, researchers, and eminent historians from across the country. The conference will feature in-depth discussions on the life and teachings of Guru Padmasambhava, as well as broader themes related to Buddhism. Scholars will also explore Odisha’s rich Buddhist heritage, its historic role in the spread of Buddhism, and the potential of its cultural sites as global tourist destinations.
Organisers have announced plans to publish a book compiling the outcomes of these discussions, ensuring that the insights and research shared during the conference are preserved and accessible for future study. The initiative reflects a strong commitment to promoting Buddhist scholarship and cultural tourism in Odisha. This international gathering aims to deepen research into Buddhist texts and traditions, while also highlighting Odisha’s significance in the global Buddhist landscape.
Building on the success of the first edition held in 2025 at the Hirak Tribhuj, this year’s event has drawn wider participation and greater international attention, reinforcing Odisha’s place as a centre of Buddhist learning and spirituality.
