Kurnool: A shocking incident has emerged in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, in which a woman has been accused of conspiring with a nurse and her two sons to inject the wife of her former lover with an HIV-infected needle.

The victim is a doctor who teaches at a private medical college. All four accused have been arrested, the police said, as reported by PTI.

The accused were identified as B Boya Vasundhara (34), a resident of Kurnool, Konge Jyothi (40), a nurse at a private hospital in Adoni, and her two children, who are in their 20s. They were arrested on January 24, the police said.

Investigation has revealed that the main accused, Vasundhara, was in a relationship with a doctor. The doctor married the victim after the relationship broke-up. The accused could not come to terms that he ex-lover had married another woman though.

She then got together with the nurse and her sons to harm the doctor wife and separate the couple.

The incident took place on January 9 around 2.30 pm when the victim was returning home from college on a scooter for lunch. Near the K C Canal at Vinayak Ghat, two people on a motorcycle deliberately rammed into her scooter, causing her to fall and sustain injuries. As she lay injured, Vasundhara approached her, pretending to help.

While attempting to put the victim into an autorickshaw, Vasundhara allegedly injected her with an HIV-infected syringe. When the victim raised an alarm, the accused fled the spot, the police said.

The accused allegedly got HIV-infected blood samples collected from patients receiving treatment at a government hospital, saying that the samples were required for research purposes. The blood was allegedly stored in a refrigerator and later used during the attack.

The victim’s husband lodged a complaint at the Kurnool III Town Police Station on January 10. Following an investigation, police arrested Vasundhara and three others on Sunday.

A case was subsequently registered under Sections 126(2), 118(1), and 272 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the police said.
